We’re delighted to confirm that our first race meeting since lockdown is confirmed for the weekend of 25th & 26th July 2020. The world has been through significant change since we last raced competitively at Whilton Mill Kart Circuit. Everyone is adapting to the new ‘normal’, including Whilton Mill, therefore we have introduced a number of changes to the way our race meetings are run.
- Programme of independent racing for the fourth weekend in July.
- New One-Day race format.
- Increased track time; 3 x practice sessions, 3 x race heats and 15-minute final.
- New ‘guest class’ each month.
- Race entry goes live on Monday, 22nd June at 12:00.
Lockdown measures, guidance on keeping safe and Covid-secure event procedures are changing all the time. As we continually assess the situation, evolve what we offer and the way we run events, how we operate in July is likely to change for August. For July, we will host an independent race weekend on the fourth weekend in July with our usual classes, however, classes will be split over two one-day race formats.
Saturday, 25th July:
- Iame Bambino
- MightE Bambino
- Iame Cadet
- Honda Cadet
- MiniROK (guest class)
Sunday, 26th July:
- Mini X30
- Junior X30
- Junior Max
- Senior X30
(All classes will be capped to 1 grid to maximise track time)
All classes will receive the following:
- 3x Timed practice sessions (8 mins)
- 3x Heat races (10 mins)
- 1x Final race (15 mins)
Pricing has remained the same at £65 for members and £75 for non-members.
Whilton Mill has great experience in running one-day race formats, which offers considerably more track time compared to the traditional two-day format. We will continue to provide grids for all the usual classes that have always supported us plus each month we will invite a guest class to join us. We are keen to build a relationship with the TKM, and Senior Rotax competitors so keep an eye out for future events where we will invite entries from these classes. The guest class for July is MiniROK.
The team from Alpha Live will be back to live stream races on YouTube and Facebook. Meditech are booked to provide the same level of medical cover that you have come to expect when racing at Whilton Mil Kart Circuit. You’ll also see familiar faces in Scrutineering as our regular team will be in attendance. The restaurant will be open daily serving a selection of made to order takeaway food. KKC will be open both days, please check their website for information on ordering and collection.
For July, overnight camping is not permitted. Drivers and teams will be allowed onto the site before the race weekend to set up and erect awnings in your allocated pit bays, if required. Awnings can be left in situ until the end of the race weekend but must be cleared by 09:00 on Monday morning.
Race entry goes live on Monday, 22nd June at 12:00. Please submit your race entry in the normal way by visiting www.whiltonmill.co.uk/wmkc .
